BeautyBlender – Honest Review
Just to make this clear, I have not been sent or been paid to review this product. I just like people to get an honest opinion on something. Below I am going to tell you what I truly thought about the ‘BeautyBlender’ and why it just wasn’t for me…
What Is It?
For those of you who don’t know a BeautyBlender is a little sponge like device that eases your make up application. It promises, flawless ‘airbrush type finish’ coverage. Its unique selling point is the tear drop shape that allows you to get in to all the nooks and crannies you don’t usually cover.
It’s apparently ‘revolutionized’ the make up industry. People from everywhere are loving this little thing, every make up guru and celebrity is telling us we need this. Every well known make up artist is calling us out for not owning one but, is it worth the 20 dollars? A sponge? Let’s find out!
My Good Thoughts About The Beauty Blender
I hate being too nasty about a product. It’s just not in my genes, everyone has to make a living and i’m happy for anyone making there way up in any industry. However, my good thoughts on the actual BeautyBlender are limited.
I found it was good with my favorite US concealer EU concealer. It blended it well under my eyes and I did quite like the end result. I didn’t attempt applying powder with it, I chose my own powder brush for this.
I wish I could go on and on about all the good things but, I just don’t have any. So, let me get on to the bad…
My Bad Thoughts About The Beauty Blender
If you love this product look away now because, I did not love it. I really didn’t like it at all. I can only talk from my personal preference, I like full coverage foundation, I like for my foundation to not be sucked up in to a sponge. I felt like I wasted 4 extra pumps of my foundation just because I was using a pink sponge.
Before the concealer was applied, I had to apply foundation. Let me be completely honest, I was so annoyed by the BeautyBlender I was forced to re-start my make up. This might not seem like to big of a deal but, I had to be at work in literally 20 minutes. I didn’t have time for it.
It just wouldn’t work with my face, yes admitedly it got in to a few nooks and crannies and it even applied my concealer with some elegance but, my foundation was just a no go. I was using this foundation. It’s liquid, something the ‘BeautyBlender’ claims to work wonders with, I just wasn’t a witness to any of them.
When I had returned from work and managed to get over it, I decided to clean my Beauty Blender. Well, unless the one I bought was a fake, it would not get clean. I rubbed it and scrubbed it and all that came out was a few squirts of brown fluid before leaving me with a dirty brown mark on my BeautyBlender.
Overall, I didn’t really see any difference from using a normal, chuck away sponge applicator to using this expensive pink one.I know some people adore this product, some people even swear by it but, I just didn’t get that warm fuzzy feeling towards it.
It wasn’t what I thought it would be, it just stole my make up and made me late for work.It now lives in the bottom of my make up bag, covered in god knows what because I can’t find the time or patience to learn how great everyone claims it to be.
I’m sorry Beauty Blender, you just weren’t my type. It’s not you, it’s me.
