I am Stuck In A Blogging Rut

By  |

Hi, everyone!

I haven’t posted on my blog in way over two weeks, one because I couldn’t actually get into my site (that’s a whole other story) and two! I didn’t really want to get inside my site…

I know I’m not alone in what I’m about to say, I have seen SO many bloggers that  I follow on twitter express the same kind of views.

It’s official and my problem is that I am stuck in a blogging ‘rut’.

Girl versus makeup is a HUGE hobby of mine and when I first started I used to post every single day, boasting with ideas and opinions and things to share but lately, especially in light of how awful our world is at the moment, I’ve been finding it really hard to sit down with a bottle of conditioner (or wine ha-ha) and share with you all why I love it or hate it.

I feel like I need to be evoking these striking ideas and opinions on the current state of the world, opinions that make you widen your eyes and lean back on your chair. I feel like every feminist before me is SCREAMING from beyond the grave at me to tell lurking men what we all really think of them and I should be on the next plane out of here to help girls who really are in need of feminism.

Thankfully to everyone who enjoys my blog I won’t be going that way because as I say this is my hobby and the things I write about are things I love to write about, I like my blog to be a simple and stress-free zone. Also, there’s a lot of amazing people out there who are already doing these things and doing an amazing job.

I have SO many ideas and so much I need to get out there, but I just can’t bring myself to get my camera out and spend hours and hours perfecting an article on my newest matte lippy.

My job is all online so when my hobby is too it can get hard to motivate myself when I am stuck in a rut like this one.

Something that is also really bugging me is the lack of opinions, people trying so hard to get free stuff, other bloggers ganging up on each other and everyone just expecting views for their reviews or God knows what else. When I’m stuck in a bind like this one I can’t help but think how silly everything looks and how I actually don’t trust the opinion of so many bloggers (there are a few I do trust but I’m trying to make an impact) because they just don’t tell the truth for fear of offending a company that doesn’t even get their name right in a PR email.

Something else that’s stopping me blogging is this heat (amirite?!), it’s so hard to concentrate when I am constantly sighing and unsticking myself from my desk chair – v unattractive.

I will be back, probs within the next few days.

I just need some time to put things into perspective and get my blogging groove back on.

Thanks for reading,

Lauren.x
