How To Fix A Broken Powder Without Using Alcohol

By  |

Hi everyone!

I literally drop powder forms of makeup all the time. I don’t know what it is about them that makes me lose all control of holding them but, it happens and until a few days ago I had no idea they could be salvaged.

I was on a ‘chucking out makeup spree’ and came across two different powder compacts that I loved and couldn’t bare to throw away when they first smashed, one is a bronzer and the other a pressed powder.

Little me did some research and I have found a way to fix my powder makeup without using alcohol (rubbing alcohol). I haven’t actually done it before so, let’s see how it turns out

This was my bronzer, looking poor and shattered. I had kept it hidden away in my makeup bag, unable to use it in fear of  it dropping absolutely everywhere.

All you need to do is take a toothpick and smash up the powder makeup even more. I know it’s annoying and quite sad but, you have to get rid of the lumps for it to work.

Mine needed to be smashed up with the toothpick even more than this so, keep going until it is virtually lump-less! It did get a little messy for me so I did need to remove some excess from the top of my smashed bronzer. I smashed it when it was only a few days old so, it was quite full.

Next you need to take a makeup wipe. It doesn’t matter what kind, just make sure your hands are completely washed and clean before doing this next step as we don’t want your smashed makeup to have any unwanted bacteria passed on.

I love these makeup wipes from amazon. They are so cheap and feel so lovely on your skin (they also help fight spots). You can check them out by clicking here if you are in the EU or US.

All you to do is take your finger and begin pressing down firmly on the makeup wipe. Keep pressing until you feel no lumps or loose bits of the powder, you may need another makeup wipe if your broken powder is as full as mine as it gets quite messy!

Now, taking the end of your makeup wipe or a Q-tip wipe around the edges to clean it up and that’s it! your broken powder should be fixed!

Considering this was my first try I also decided to try it with my other smashed powder which was a sheer finish pressed powder. It was smashed when I bought it and I was so annoyed because it did cost me more than I would usually pay for a setting powder. But, anyway! let’s try this quick fix on this baby!

This time around I made sure to really crumble the powder with my toothpick, this is the key. I may even go back to my bronzer and smash it up again so, that is has the same smooth finish that the finishing powder has but, i’ll see how it goes over the next few days of using it!

As you can see by smashing it up in to even tinier little pieces it worked even better than the first time around. I used the exact same method with the makeup wipe and firm pressing motion and seem to have fixed my two broken powders.

I hope this helped you! if it did please let me know in the comments below and also, let me know of any quick fixes you know of!
