Easy Strawberry Nails Nail Art Design

By  |

The inspiration for the strawberry nail art designs actually came about last night when I opened the fridge to find these huge strawberries my mum had bought.

They were amazing and tasted so sweet and lovely so, I thought ‘hey I wonder how hard it would be to create something like a strawberry on my nail?’. The answer is…surprisingly extremely easy!

I practiced a few times and once I was happy I decided to make it in to a nail art idea!

As always we are going to need a couple of things…

Things you need:

  • A base coat to protect our nails from the polish. I used Sally Hansen’s nailgrowth miracle as it protects your nail bed and offers to grow them too.
  • A red polish. I used a really red, red (does that make sense?) I wanted my strawberries to look as vibrant as possible so i’m using a red I picked up in KIKO.
  • My two nail art tools. One is to create the ‘leaves’ on top of the strawberries and one is to create the seeds on the outside of the strawberries. If you don’t have any tools you can use a toothpick to create the seeds and by cutting a straw in half and then half again, to use a thin lin to create the leaves.
  • A black nail art pen. I love this pen as you only use a small amount but, if you don’t have one feel free to use a normal black polish or any color of your choice.
  • A green polish for the ‘leaves’ mine has a little bit of sparkle and is from KIKO.
  • And finally a top coat. I’m just using  a gel effect top coat but you can just use any clear polish.

Step one

The first step is to file your nails and then apply your base coat.

Once that is dry (shouldn’t take long at all!) Apply your strawberry color! And allow that to dry thoroughly before proceeding to step two.

Depending on your nail polish color, go in for two coats if you need too!

Step two

Once the red is completely dry we can now move on to the leaves. I am using the nail tool brush below but, feel free to use anything you feel will make ‘leaf’ shapes and then just fill them in with your green color.

You also don’t have to make every single nail a strawberry. Feel free to make just a few strawberries and leave the rest red, it’s all down to your personal preference.

Taking whichever tool you use to create your leaves make small triangles along the top of the nail bed. and just fill them in as you go along. It’s easier to pour a small amount of your polish on to a piece of paper or card to make the whole application a lot easier!

Wait for the leaves to dry before moving on. It’s not as important that they are dry for this next step as the seeds won’t touch the leaves but, it just makes it easier if they are in the process of being dry in case you smudge them!

Step Three

Taking your small nail art dotting tool or your toothpick dip a small amount on to the end of your tool and begin making tiny dots on the nail. Instead of just normal dots try and carefully drag the ‘dot’ down, creating a seed like shape.

This step will be fiddly but if done right out strawberries will almost be ready!

Step Four

Wait for the nails to completely dry before moving on. I know I always say this but, the last step is so time consuming if you smudge them now because you couldn’t wait it will all have to be done again.

Once they are dry apply your top coat and allow that to dry and Ta dah! Your strawberries are done!

As always I am just going to link below the nail art pens and the nail tools I used. They made my life so much easier and I was able to create a whole new category on my blog  dedicated to nail designs. I was  beyond rubbish at nails before and will a little practice and help from the tools below I have come so far.

I used a few of these tools to create the leaves and the seeds of my strawberries. They are so cheap and have so changed the way I do my nails.
