Moving Tips + Life Update
Hi everyone!!
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of stress for me. Firstly, I had to pack up my WHOLE room to move out, it seemed like a never ending task but, fortunately it did actually come to an end.
I then I had to make sure all of my social media and blogs were running smoothly for the few days I would be offline whilst I was moving and getting settled and I then had to actually move.
I’ve been here a few days now and so far I am actually loving it, I love the community I am in, the house is lovely, the pool looks cold but, still pretty inviting. I know it’s too soon to be absolutely in love but, I do feel like I am slowly falling…
Anyway!
Because of the move and the stress that revolved around the move, I decided to give you some little tips on moving to make your life easier if you are planning on moving in the near future!
(If you do keep reading I am going to update you on my life below with some pretty cool pictures)
# Be Organized
I am the worlds biggest organized mess you could ever meet. I have a place for everything and anything. If you are moving make sure to put everything in to an allocated place inside a box or a bag. It’s also a good idea to label boxes so, you know where to put them when you do arrive.
I made sure to put all of my chargers and cables in to one small bag, along with some adapters and batteries. It made moving in so much easier because I knew where everything was.
# Don’t Stress
I know that’s easier said than done but, it really doesn’t help anything by getting stressed. I have developed the biggest spot known to man on my forehead from losing my passport when I first moved in. I am not even going to get in to that story but, I was so stressed about losing it that I now have to enjoy a huge spot on my forehead.
It also had nothing to do with not being organized and everything to do with stressing over absolutely nothing!
# Be Ruthless
The worlds biggest clothes hoarder is me. I get overly attached and convince myself that them sparkly leggings I wore back in circa 2008 still fit and still work on my body.
When moving make sure to just be ruthless and chuck away anything you haven’t worn in the past 3 months. I always have to rope my mum in for this one as I am just terrible at letting go.
This time around I was actually a lot better and donated a lot of my clothes to charity, it felt good and it also felt good not carrying around clothes I didn’t need.
This tip also goes for all beauty products, electronics and books. Anything you never use, don’t bring! it will just clog up your new house.
# Don’t Go Hungry
People with kids or people older than me probably already do this next tip but, it’s a pretty new one for me. In fact, it’s the first time I have actually done it…
when I moved out last year the night I moved in to my new house, I ordered dominoes. However, that meant the following morning we had leftover pizza (not complaining) and nothing else, which meant having to find the supermarket and going shopping..
this time around I took a different approach. A few weeks before moving we had been collecting food that wouldn’t spoil and putting it all in to a large box, the day we moved, me and my lovely mum went to the supermarket and stuffed the box full of all fresh products that would of gone bad had we not bought them the day of the move. This meant on move in day we had food, the next morning we had food and enough food for the next few days.
It takes away the stress of having to find the supermarket, especially if you have kids or know you’re going to be starving when you move in!
# Know Your Surroundings
This moving in tip is for people like me. People who are far too organized for their own good. Some people like to explore in their own time and take a Sunday drive around the surrounding areas, not me. I like to know where my nearest petrol station, supermarket, beach and shopping center is and although a little extreme it’s a good idea.
Please do not laugh (feel free, because I will never know!) but, I did actually sit and write down every single GPS coordinate to the nearest place of importance near me, i know this is extreme and a little stupid but I am a serious worrier and it just made me relax a little knowing where everything was and being able to get to it without any trouble.
I was going to make a completely different post for this but, I thought i would include it in my moving tips as it was all around the same time and it just makes sense in my head.
As you hopefully know, I have moved. I have already moved out once before but, came home after travelling and life took some twists and turns and finally almost a year later I moved out AGAIN.
I now live way closer to airports (so handy for going travelling, which is my main goal) and so much closer to shopping centers. I live really close to the beach, a huge city and a lot of life. I love where my parents live but, I just needed to be closer to all of these things.
Whilst exploring at the weekend we came across these amazing ‘sand dunes’ (if they aren’t sand dunes please let me know) I have put some pictures in below, I also did post this on my Instagram which I would so love if you could follow me on!
This place is only about 15 minutes from my house and it’s just amazing, I can’t believe I never even knew about it.
My life has changed since moving, we are planning our next travelling venture and working hard to get where we need to be.
I really hoped you liked this post on my travelling tips and a little life update! if you did please let me know in the comments below!
