Easy Ghost Nail Art Design

I am back with another nail art design. As we all know I love trying out new, easy designs on my nails and I was inspired by something I saw today to create this look.

I don’t know weather to call this little babies ghosts, ghouls, eyes poking out, I don’t know so, i’m not gonna call them ‘ghost nails’ for now. Don’t judge.

Before we begin you’re going to need a few things and as always i’ll link down below the products I use to create this spooky ‘lil’ look.

You will need…

  • Above is a black barry m polish. I didn’t have a plain black so I used mine that contains glitter and this will actually make it look a bit more ‘me’! The black is for the base of the ghost.
  • Then we have a white nail polish, this is virtually in all of my nail art posts. It is a manicure polish so the brush is extremely small, perfect for filling in where needed.
  • The black and white nail art pens are to make the eyes my ghost. I am so in love with my pens and my nail art tools, i’ll link them below so you can see for yourself!!!
  • The gold polish is a clear coat. It’s sally hansen, nailgrowth miracle. I’ve spoken about it in my Sally Hansen post, I use it as a base coat, which I recommend you do so we don’t damage our nails.
  • The gel polish is for when everything is completely dry, I will coat my nails in this polish to make them look super professional and it also seals the design in!
  • The two nail art tools are for creating the eyes and the pupils. Below you can see the variations in size. If you don’t have any nail art tools feel free to use a toothpick to make the pupils and something round like the end of a pencil for the eyes.

Finally, the nail file to make sure my nails aren’t chipped or shaped in a strange way!

Step one –

Step is to take your base coat and coat your nails evenly with the polish. They shouldn’t take long to dry so just be patient whilst they do!

Step two –

Step two is all about taking your base coat, mine being black and coating each nail evenly. You may need two coats depending on your nail polish.

If you didn’t want to go with black you could easily paint your nails white and do different colored eyes, it’s all about your own preference but, i’m going to stick with black to stay with the spooky theme.

Step Three –

Ensuring that your base color is absolutely dry we can begin doing the eyes.

Taking your white polish and large dotting tool or the end of your pencil, begin by making dots on your nail, within close proximity to one another. You can also try and make the pupils all different shapes and sizes to make them look even freakier.

A little tip I do is rather than dipping your dotting tool in to the polish, put a small amount of polish on to a piece of card or some paper and you will then have easier access to it.

I know they look so weird without pupils but that’s coming next! Allow these to dry thoroughly before moving on!

Step Four –

Now it’s time for the pupils. Make sure your eyes are absolutely dry before proceeding otherwise your nail will smudge and you may have to start all over again.

Taking your small nail art dotting tool or your toothpick, dip your tool of choice in to your pupil color (mine is black) and begin dotting.

The eyes shouldn’t be perfect, try making some look left, some look right, some wonky, some up, some down! We don’t want perfect looking ghosts!

Step Five –

Before proceeding ensure your ghost is completely dry as we don’t want it to rub off right at the end!

The last step is to coat our nails with a top coat. I’m using a gel effect polish but feel free to just use a clear polish!
