Super Easy Lemon Iced Tea Recipe
Hi everyone!
If you read this post called ‘The most amazing adventure of my entire life‘ you will know i have recently returned from Thailand (as if i haven’t already told everyone I’ve ever come in to contact with).
Whilst there i won’t lie, i wasn’t overly adventurous with the food, however, i did try an ‘Iced Lemon Tea’ in every restaurant or cafe i went,(just to see if they were all the same) and when i came home, my body was seriously craving the cold, lemony drink.
I didn’t think it would be possible to recreate this ‘other side of the world’ goodness, i really didn’t. I thought perhaps the Thai had some magical recipe that required the peel of a lemon from a tropical tree…
Fortunately for my taste buds it is entirely possible to recreate, unfortunately for my imagination, it’s pretty simple to make and not a lot of magic is used.
I’ve been testing with a few different ingredients but i have finally found a recipe that is 99% the same as the one i sipped on in Thailand (I say 99 % because i still like to think they added a little bit of tropical mystery to it).
So, here goes!
You Will Need:
-Sugar (optional but it makes it so much sweeter)
– Ice cubes
-Lemon
-Black tea bags
-Mint (optional)
Step One –
Boil a pot of water with 2 black teabags inside. I did enough water for 3 glasses of iced tea and i also used two teabags for around every 3 cups i was going to make. Once the water is boiling, take it off the heat and allow the water to cool.
You can just pop it in the fridge if you are impatient!
Allowing it to cool isn’t necessary but i just feel without doing so your ice cubes melt way more quickly and you don’t get the right taste.
Step Two –
Whilst the water is cooling, add a teaspoon or two of sugar to the pot of water and stir, until it is dissolved. This is optional, it just makes the drink a lot sweeter.
Then add your lemon to the water, use fresh or bottled lemon juice and add the whole lemon or a few squirts of the bottled lemon juice.
This recipe is all down to your personal tastes, test as you go and see if you need more lemon and sugar or even a little less!
Step Three –
Add your ice cubes to your glass. Make sure there’s enough to fill a quarter of the glass, or even more if your glass is particularly large. Add your lemon tea to the ice cubes and top up with plain water.
Now you can either add some fresh mint leaves to the top or just pop in a straw and enjoy!
There will be a finished image here of my tea but it is currently cooling in the fridge haha!
Thank you so much for reading, if you do make it i hope you enjoy it!
